Furniture Care Guide

At Coricraft, we create furniture designed to be enjoyed for years to come. This care guide will help you maintain the beauty and longevity of your pieces.

We highly recommend applying Coriguard Fabric Protection to all your slipcovered and fully upholstered couches. It creates a barrier that prevents spills from penetrating the fabric, causing them to form a bubble on the surface for easy removal. Without protection, spills are quickly absorbed and can cause permanent staining.

Avoid direct sunlight or harsh lighting and keep away from heat sources.

To prevent dust and minimise pilling, vacuum regularly.

New fabrics, especially those with looser weaves, may pill during the first few months. Vacuuming more frequently during this initial period helps remove loose fibres and reduce pilling. Use a fabric shaver to remove any remaining pills.

Do not spot clean your fabric as it could lighten the spot. Wash all parts an equal number of times to prevent shade variation.

Our slipcover fabrics are fully machine washable (excluding our Como and Soho ranges). They should always be washed with a liquid detergent or mild soap powder that doesn’t contain a chlorinator substance, such as bleach.

We recommend you cold wash your slipcovers inside-out with Woolite liquid detergent.

General Care

  • Vacuum regularly to prevent dust from settling into the leather.
  • Brush regularly with a nylon bristled brush, unless specified otherwise, maintain your leather’s pile.
  • Use Coriguard Leather to reduce liquid spill damage. It does not protect against natural body oils penetrating the leather.
  • Do not wipe leather with a damp cloth unless specified.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or harsh lighting.
  • Maintain at least one metre between your leather furniture and heating sources as prolonged exposure will dry it out.
  • Apply the correct care kit for your leather twice a year to nourish and protect it.

General Care

  • Use coasters and trivets to prevent water and scorch marks.
  • Keep out of direct sunlight. Rotate wooden furniture and table décor often to minimise the risk of sun damage.
  • Maintain the humidity in the room as dry conditions may cause the wood to crack.
  • Ensure wooden legs have felt protectors to prevent colour transfer to carpets. Use protective felt or rubber feet under any wooden product to prevent colour transfer from the wood.

Cleaning

  • Dust weekly.
  • Wipe down wood surfaces using a barely damp micro-fibre cloth to remove any dirt and grime that may have built up.
  • A mild dish liquid solution may be used for stubborn marks.
  • Dry thoroughly.

Maintenance Checklist

  • Check that the castors, legs and screws are tight.
  • Oil the mechanisms twice a year.
  • Check that bed rails and legs are secured and supportive.

General Care

  • Never place hot or cold items directly onto the glass surface as this could cause thermal shock that triggers the glass to shatter.
  • Always use placemats and coasters to protect the glass surface from heat, cold and moisture.
  • In exceptional circumstances, a scratched surface or damaged edge may cause the glass to break unexpectedly. Avoid impacts on the side or edges of the glass, as this is where the glass is most vulnerable.
  • If your glass furniture gets chipped or damaged, stop using it and dispose of it safely. Small chips or damages may not cause the glass to break immediately but they will weaken it. Temperature fluctuations in your home (e.g. when your home cools down at night) could trigger it to shatter later.

Cleaning

  • Dust regularly with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Wipe up any spills with a damp cloth and then dry the surface with a clean, dry duster.
  • Remove stubborn stains and greasy marks with a glass cleaner and a damp cloth or leather shammy, and dry with a clean cloth.
  • The use of furniture polish or spray is not necessary or recommended.
  • Never use abrasive cleaning agents as these can scratch and damage the glass surface

General Care

  • Natural cane and rattan are susceptible to changes in weather conditions. If left in warm climates for too long, they can get dry and brittle, causing them to break easily. These pieces should remain indoors or undercover.
  • To maintain rattan or cane furniture on an undercover patio, protect them with furniture covers when not in use.

Cleaning

  • Fill a bowl with water. Add a few drops of dish detergent and stir until bubbles form on the surface.
  • Dip a soft cloth into the bubbles only, not into the water.
  • Wipe the rattan with the bubbles. The slight moisture cleans without soaking the rattan, which would damage it.
  • Use a toothbrush or other soft brush to clean in the cracks and crevices, using the same suds-only cleaning method.
  • Dry off with a soft cloth.
  • Repeat weekly for best results.
